Our gossip columnist has heard through the grapevine that R-Mail, the popular RSS-to-email service, is up for sale.
Randy Morin, who runs R-Mail, announced last month that 50,000 users were using the service. This seems to have gotten somebody’s attention.
The question is, what is the motive for buying the service? The technology to support that many users has to be solid, but the process is pretty straight-forward. Clearly the goal is to gain access to 50,000 users (and their email addresses), but for what end? We’re betting ad placement in the emailed RSS items, but only time will tell.
