Our contest to give away a FeedBurner Total Stats Pro account turned out to be a blast. We had a lot of great entries, and some really weird ones. Like “get help” weird. No, really.

Anyway, my personal favorite and contest runner-up from the “intro to a pulp novel” category was this one, submitted by Bud Caddell:

From the moment she walked in the door and let down her hair, he was hooked, hooked on those warm blonde locks drenched in the sun filtering through the cheap plastic blinds, hooked on that shade of blonde that reminded him of the icons on the site he was feverishly posting and reposting his newest blog post, the one with the image of Britney Spears with the sign of the beast so artfully photoshopped on her bare skull, so hooked that he knew, from that moment, that she was the only real linkbait he’d ever known, and that he digged her.

Poetry, Bud. Poetry.

But, we can’t all be runners up, so we had to pick a winner.

After talking to the FeedBurner design team, there was one entry that everybody loved. It was unanimous, and as it turns out, the only legit entry in the “real life logo” category. Therefore…

TechBrew.net is pleased to announce that the winner of the FeedBurner Total Stats Pro account is Ron Rementilla for his papercraft-style air freshener!

Click the above image to see other shots of Ron’s handiwork. Congratulations, Ron, and thanks to everybody who participated. We hope you had fun.

As always, keep an eye on TechBrew.net for upcoming contests. Did somebody say Skype phone? Nah, couldn’t be.

We love a good contest every now and then, especially ones that show off creativity. And because we’re so big on FeedBurner, we thought we might combine the two somehow.

TechBrew.net is pleased to team up with FeedBurner to announce a contest where the prize is a free FeedBurner Total Stats Pro account, good for an entire year. You’ll get detailed item-level analytics about your feeds so you can be smarter about what you publish, so we’re not just talking free stickers, people.

Here’s how it works:

The Contest

To enter the contest, submit one of the following as a comment on this post:

A) A real-life photograph of the FeedBurner logo that you’ve made somehow. Tattoos, pumpkin carvings, sand castles, sky writing, whatever. The photo needs to be au natural – no photochopping, please. The submission should briefly describe what you did and include a link to the photo. Creativity is a must, humor is a bonus. Magnetic LED displays in Boston are probably a bad idea, and our lawyers ask that you don’t do anything illegal.

OR

B) The opening sentence to what would be a really bad pulp fiction novel, somehow encorporating RSS, Atom, feeds, blogging, or FeedBurner. You know, “It was a dark and stormy night…” kind of stuff. For inspiration, read winners of the Bulwer-Lytton parody contest, but don’t forget to work in something about blogging or feeds. (At last a contest where bloggers actually get rewarded for bad writing!) The more obnoxious, the better.

The Rules

Your submission must be your own work.

Your submission must not be the product of illegal activity or involve weapons of mass destruction.

Your submission will be your property, but you agree to let us display it for this contest.

Your submission must use a valid email address in the comment form. This will not be published or visible on the page, but we will need it to contact you.

Photo submissions must be un-altered except for cropping and color-correction (no Photoshop magic).

You can submit as many entries as you like, one entry per comment.

TechBrew.net authors, FeedBurner employees, and their family members aren’t eligible to win. See how fair we are?

The Deadline

Entries must be submitted before midnight (GMT-7) on March 15, 2007. (Beware the ides of March!) Comments will be closed at that time.

If you want to watch the entries come in, be sure to subscribe to the comments feed for this post.

Judging and The Prize

Mark Woodman of TechBrew.net and members of FeedBurner’s Marketing and
Design teams will co-judge the entries. The winner will be announced on TechBrew.net on Monday, March 19, 2007. At that time we’ll email the winner so they can get hooked up with their free Total Stats Pro account. The account will be active for an entire year.

Good luck, everyone!
